About This Coastal Scene: Whelk Seashell and Misty Wave is a beautiful long exposure nature photograph of a black or dark gray Whelk Seashell on the beach of Ocracoke Island North Carolina with a wave quickly rolling over it. The use of the slower shutter speed allowed the ocean water to turn to a mist as it rolled up the sandy beach and over the seashell.
