Technology and Social Media, Is It Making Us Forget About Copyrights

June 17th, 2016

Technology and Social Media, Is It Making Us Forget About Copyrights

In the fast paced world of technology and sharing, are people forgetting what a copyright is and why it exists? The more our business grows and the more exposure we get online, the more we are dealing with copyright issues. We are two weeks into June and we’ve had three issues that we have had to deal with; all of the individuals were cooperative and we are extremely thankful for that. However, it’s disturbing to know that people are forgetting or disregarding the fact that another person spent time creating that work that they are sharing. Is it because of the easy access to digital versions? Have we lost sight of the human factor on how things are created? Or is it much worse, a lack of caring? So, this article is about the Copyright Law in plain English to help refresh people's minds or give an easy to understand definition for those that are unsure about the law. Giving Your Product Photography Titles to Improve Your Chances of Being Found Online

May 31st, 2016

There are a lot of online sellers out there that create beautiful pieces of crafts, products, and or artwork but have very little knowledge of how the internet works. A lot of time this lack of knowledge makes us feel as if we're spinning our wheels and getting nowhere or worse yet like our products aren't good enough for the market place. In all reality you're most likely battling obscurity, no one knows who you are yet. A few weeks ago we addressed the topic of adding descriptions and keywords to your product photograph to enhance the content that you share which in turn helps build up references to who you are and what products you have in the marketplace. This week I would like to address the topic of Title and Image Attributes better known as "ALT Text".Read more...https://pipafineart.wordpress.com/2016/05/31/giving-your-product-photography-titles-to-improve-your-chances-of-being-found-online/

Art, More than Just Aesthetics

Art, More than Just Aesthetics

The purpose of fine art in the workplace isn’t just for aesthetics or to beautify the space; there are many benefits to its presence with-in your facility. One of the most important aspects of having art in the workplace is that it builds culture and sparks creativity. Art improves the workplace environment for both the employees, who see it day after day, and on the clientele who either visits once or frequently. The culture that art creates can leave a lasting impression of your company on your clientele as well as on your employees; which increases loyalty from both. How to Keyword and Embed Your Photographs To Improve Seller Exposure

April 17th, 2016

This article isn't just for beginner photographers, this article is for anyone adding images online; especially if you are trying to sell your work or your items. I've chatted with about 30 different Etsy shop owners and Fine Art America artists over the past few weeks for a variety of blog topic ideas. One of the questions that I have asked of them in a survey was "Before you upload your images do you embed them with keyword, descriptions, and contact information?". Most of the shop owners and artists said no, they didn't realize that keywords and descriptions could be embedded into photographs....yikes! This is unfortunate, because a lot of their work is stunning and its not getting the exposure that it should. So this is for all of you shop owners and artists out there....stop what you're doing, you are sharing blank space that is a valuable tool in your marketing effort.

What Embedded Information Does

Embedding keywords, descriptions and contact info into your photographs helps with your Globe Search; don't solely rely on the 13 keywords that Etsy and 50 that FAA allows you to have. Don't rely on just the description in your social media posts; its not enough in our global market. Embedding keywords and other descriptive information gives you a double whammy so to speak. Here is why, embedded information goes everywhere the photo goes.

"Keywording" is one of top 25 essential tools needed to be found online. Google, Yahoo, Bing, and any other search engine out there have a staff of Brainiacs working round-the-clock developing ways to improve online user experience but they haven't nailed down how to judge or read the "subject" of a photograph without the use of words just yet. So you have to direct the search engine with descriptive words that help classify your photograph or the product that is represented in the photograph for them. For example I am a landscape and nature photographer, I sell my work in a variety of sizes and on a variety of material through my website: PI Photography and Fine Art. A lot of people have a hard time visualizing what my photographs / products would look like if they were framed or even hung on a wall, so I use mock-up; product visuals like these.
